Description
Michelangelo Green Man (medium)
This piece is a representation of one of Michelangelo’s many Green Man designs for the Medici Chapel in Florence. There is relatively little Green Man imagery in the medieval and Gothic architecture of Italy, but from the Renaissance onwards the Green Man began to appear regularly in manuscripts, metalwork, bookplates and stained glass, as well as in churches and cathedrals. Mantegna, Donatello and Michelangelo all used the motif.
This is a hand-crafted and hand-coloured ornament, cast in frost proof casting stone. The Michelangelo Green Man is 20cm wide, 25cm high and weighs about 1.6kg. The ornament is cast with a strong hook for secure display.
All our ornaments are cast and coloured by hand in our workshop in Zeeland, the Netherlands.
Colours can vary from the photo. Our ornaments are hand crafted and hand-coloured, so that no two pieces are exactly the same.
