Description
Hare in the Moon Plaque
In folklore the legend of the Hare in the Moon is based on observations identifying markings of the Moon as depicting a hare or rabbit. The story exists in many cultures, especially in East Asian folklore and Aztec mythology. The hare and the moon are also strongly connected in Celtic mythology. The hare was believed to have mystical links to the female cycle and to the moon which governed it.
