Chinese Zodiac Plaque (large)

The Chinese Zodiac, known as Sheng Xiao originated in the Han Dynasty (202BC – 220AD) and is based upon each animal’s character and living habits. In a twelve-year cycle, each year in that cycle is related to an animal sign. These signs are the rat, ox, tiger, cat (or rabbit in some depictions), dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. It is calculated according to Chinese lunar calendar which tells us that we are currently in the year of the Tiger.

All our ornaments are made and finished by hand at our workshop in Zeeland, the Netherlands. Cast in frostproof casting stone the Chinese Zodiac Plaque is suitable for both indoors and outdoors. This ornament is 53cm in diameter, and weighs about 9kg. The colour is weathered sandstone. The piece is cast with a strong hook for secure display.
